Our team of Heritage Volunteer book conservators continues to work in the Royal Engineers Library Brompton Barracks. The work undertaken to date has covered their unique and extensive collection of old photographs, maps and plans and posters which, as you would expect from such an organisation, covers the politics and campaigns which we know from history. Our book conservation work also extends to Leeds Castle library and Maidstone Museum library where work was undertaken recently. Our society is fortunate in having a team of volunteers willing to give time to work in these libraries.
Arms and armour preservation also features in our interests. We have several members who are currently working on arms and armour at Penshurst Place, where the photographs on this page were taken. This work is undertaken as part of the Kent Area NADFAS team. Special training has been provided by the Royal Armouries – Tower of London and, in the past, by experts from the Wallace Collection.
